There are two ways to go with the 'performance wheels' route. You can either go for race-track lightness, with carbon-fibre and magnesium, or you can try the US custom bike route - where style is the most important thing. And these spangly new Cartel wheels from Performance Machine certainly fall into the latter camp. Imported by UK firm MAG Europe, the PM wheels are available in a dizzying array of styles, and to suit most current sports bikes, as well as some nakeds and hypersports machines. PM can also provide custom-finished wheels to suit special requirements.

These wheels are for a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa, and they are the 'Contrast Cut' finished Cartels (they also come in plain polished, or chrome finish). These wheels cost £879 for the front, and £955 for the rear.

They're not super-light - the front weighs 7.6kg with disc carriers - but they do look extremely smart in the flesh. These will also fit the Suzuki B-King, so Alan's planning to throw them on his supercharged bike when he gets the chance...
